Want Dust-Free Vents in Your Camper? Try This!

With spring flowers comes … RV cleaning, right? It’s that time of the year! Our neighborhood is quickly filling up with RVs in driveways (including ours), undergoing spring cleaning inside and out. They’ve sat all winter and need some TLC so they’ll be ready for hitting the local campgrounds and national parks.

We tried a new cleaning technique this year that we’re excited about because we think it’ll cut down on the amount of dust and dirt that gets into our RV (and who wouldn’t like that!). With just a few tools and a little elbow grease, we’ve not only cleaned our vents, but we’ve also created a barrier so that dust won’t stick to them. This cleaning hack is nothing to sneeze at! If it helps relieve our allergies when we're camping, we'll need tissues for our tears of joy, not our runny noses!

Want to know more about how to get dust-free vents in your camper? Try this awesome cleaning hack!

What You’ll Need:

Bucket of soapy water

Sponge

Wax (car wax will work)

Wax applicator sponge

Clean, dry cloth

Directions:

Step 1:

Remove the vent screens. Using the soapy water and sponge, wash them on both sides. Set them aside in the fresh air so they can thoroughly dry.

Step 2:

For this next step, you can either remove the vent covers to clean them on the ground, or you can clean them while they’re still in place. Either way, wipe them clean using the sponge and soapy water. They have to fully dry before the next step (step 3).

Step 3:

Using the wax applicator, wax the vent covers all over just like you would a car. Get into all the nooks and crannies.

Step 4:

Buff off the wax using the clean, dry cloth. Dust will blow right on by your clean, shiny vent covers instead of sticking to them like glue.

Step 5:

Replace screens.
